The first Shih-tzun came to our family for more than 10 years ago. A wonderful male, with the world's greatest patience, Ludde. He´s still alive and staying with my parents in Överkalix, he really is a typical Shih Tzu. He takes it all with peace and quiet and has a great personality!

When I left home I bought me a dog, a mixed-breed. Big mistake. This lady developed aggressiveness and in the end we could not take at her or bathe her without being bitten. Although I loved Molly. When it was time for the next dog, I did not have to wonder long about what breed, thinking of the wonderful Ludde, a Shih Tzu was the obvious choice! And when I wanted a companion for Vilma I searched at all the Shih Tzu kennels up here after a puppy, because now I knew:

"There is no dog as wonderful as Shih Tzu (for me)!"

-My dream dog!

The thing priority most and love about the Shih tzu is their wonderful temperament. I have never met another dog that is so open to everything and everyone, so calm, friendly, happy and at the same time so incurable stubborn! My children and my dogs are happy together, the dogs are stable and patient, and if they have had enough of children, they just go away, under the couch, for example ....

Another advantage is thatShih Tzu works for me dispyte the fact that I am allergic! It is quite a lot of allergic people that actually are capable of Shih tzus, but it is individual. The reason I think that Shih tzun is rather for people with allergies, is that they bathed quite frequently, and don't looset stickhair, but more as "dust wad" that tends to loosen while brushing.
But the Shih tzu is not only beautiful on the inside, they are incredibly beautiful small creatures with a lovely coatr! To keep the coat pretty, you need to workj with it, with bathing and brushing, but it is worth it! And you will also have a good time with your dog! More information about coat care is available here.

You can, of course, just as with all dogs affect how your Shih Tzu will be. Do you want an active dog, then you start , for example, to practice agility or whatever you want.

Many ask if the Shih tzu is a dog that barks a lot, even here, the dog is what you make it. If you let the dog bark for no reason it will probably continue to do so, it's all about training. BUT the Shih tzu is NOT more "barky" than any other breed.

"The Shih tzu is a temple dog and like to have an exalted place to scout out over their domains ..."
